GOAL: MENTOR INTERNS AND PRODUCE GREAT WORK
Ad Club STL (Advertising Club of Greater Saint Louis) is a group that brings together a community of creatives in the advertising field. They promote fellowship amongst its members with happy hours, networking events and the American Advertising Awards (ADDYs). Each year they conduct an Internship Hop, which gives students a unique opportunity to work in eight different agencies during the summer months. In 2019, Abstrakt had the five interns work on their Salesforce consulting brand, Abstrakt Cloud Solutions during week six of the internship hop.
I was responsible for collaborating with the president of Abstrakt Cloud Solutions to develop a list of projects for the interns to complete. We landed on a list of about 15 projects that would jump start the marketing efforts for Abstrakt Cloud Solutions. These projects included:
- General email campaign
- Mass c-level email campaign
- Tradeshow pop-up designs
- Templates for case studies and drafts of success stories
- LinkedIn Inmails recruiting emails
- Linkedin ads targeting various roles
- Business cards, email signature and letterhead designs
- Business proposal templates
- Marketing & SEO analysis on local Salesforce consulting competitors
- Setup social media pages across all platforms and draft blog posts
The interns were made of up of an Account Manager, two Graphic Designers, a Digital Strategist and a Copy Writer. Each morning we had a 15 minute check-in to see what questions the group had and to give direction and clarification on the various projects. Here are examples of the works the interns completed under my direction:

In the end, the interns completed 100% of the projects and gave Abstrakt Cloud Solutions a strong portfolio of work to use in the months to come. Right away, I updated Abstrakt’s App Exchange website page with the graphics and information the interns created. Every year I enjoy sitting with each student individually to get to know them on a more personal level and help them eliminate any roadblocks they experience.
